Calming Anxiety & Increasing Stress Resilience

Calming Anxiety

This workshop is highly experiential and will teach participants simple, practical tools for calming anxiety in the moment and becoming more stress resilient long term by developing good self-care habits that will decrease overall stress. It will start by briefly covering the many causes of anxiety; the physical and psychological dimensions of it; different manifestations of anxiety (phobias, panic attacks, PTSD, OCD, and generalized anxiety); and treatments options – professional, holistic/alternative, and self-help. We will explore and identify lifestyle choices, physiological causes (such as medications and foods), and unhelpful beliefs by which we operate that facilitate anxiety for us personally. The biggest focus will be on learning and practicing skills such as self-acceptance and deep relaxation techniques, including deep breathing, tapping on acupressure points, creative visualization, progressive muscle relaxation, and mindfulness meditation. Practicing such techniques has been proven to increase both physical and mental health, improving conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, many autoimmune disorders, anxiety, and depression. Not only that, but when we are able to quiet our minds and our bodies, we become less irritable, harried, and distracted, and more loving, trusting, and joyful.

Cost: 6 1.5 hour sessions, $280 for the series
